It's Getting Closer!

Here's a little update on baby A.  I am currently 32 1/2 weeks and today marked the beginning of a crazy next few weeks that will consist of a flurry of activity and doctor's appointments.  For the next four weeks I will have an ultrasound each week for AFI (amniotic fluid index) and cord doppler, two NSTs (nonstress test) per week, one regular checkup with my OB per week and, with the exception of this week, one appointment each week with the MFM specialist.  Thankfully they were able to schedule things so that I only have to go into town twice a week and can knock out two things each trip.  Our amniocentesis is scheduled for Friday morning, August 9.  The results take 24 hours to get back and if they show baby's lungs are ready then we would probably be having a baby that weekend!  If they aren't, then plan b is to wait another week before doing another amnio (if the lungs were very immature) or inducing (if the lungs were just slightly underdeveloped after the first amnio).

My AFI today showed my fluid levels at 18, which is perfect as they should be between 15 and 20.  Baby was quite the stubborn little thing and almost made me fail the NST but thankfully I passed and didn't have to go back down to get another ultrasound done (where I had just come from and waited an hour in the lobby before being seen!).  It's somewhat overwhelming with all these appointments and everything but Jonathan and I have said from the beginning that we will do whatever it takes to get our baby brought into this world safely.  Your prayers are so very much appreciated.  We are praying for healthy lungs and a smooth next few weeks!!!!
