Cute Pictures of Our One Year Old!

Just thought I'd post some new pictures (and video) of Luke! We went to Grand Haven beach last Friday, thinking it'd be another hot humid day (perfect beach weather, right?). Well, it was a little overcast and windy, but that didn't seem to bother Luke. :)
No, that is not Luke's swimsuit. Yes, we did bring it with us. No, Jonathan would not put it on him. Yes, he was the one who had to clean Luke up afterwards. :)

Check out my new shades!

Exciting News!!

No, we are not pregnant, just to get that out there. :) Our exciting news is that Jonathan just found out yesterday that he has been hired and will be beginning a new job as of August 11! About a month ago, he applied for a job with the state of Michigan to work in the Ionia jail doing counseling with inmates. He was really excited about getting this job because he'd be able to use his criminal justice degree in addition to his counseling and it just had a lot of good things about it. Including, that he will be able to get supervision and finally get his permanent license, which many of you know has been a huge prayer request for us since Jonathan got his master's. We feel so blessed that he got this job--it's a total God thing! The benefits are amazing, he'll get more vacation, more holidays (all those government ones--woohoo!) and it is a huge pay increase!! It is in Ionia, which is about a 40 minute drive, but he will actually be driving less because he won't be driving all over the county to visit clients. Plus, he'll be driving the Geo which has been getting around 50 miles to the gallon lately! We are just amazed at how this has worked out and wanted to share the good news with everyone. :)

Luke's Birthday Bash!!

Luke's first birthday party was this past Saturday. We had all of Jonathan's family, all of my family, my cousins from Byron Center, and some friends totaling over 30 people! It was quite the party! I must say that I couldn't have done it without the help of my family. They helped with sooo much! We had a lot of great food (thanks Mom!), delicious homemade ice cream (thanks Dad!), and the perfect birthday cakes (thanks Emily!). And my brother and Jonathan helped a ton, too. I don't want them to feel left out. ;)

Emily, working hard on the cake she did all by herself.
The finished product. All I have to say is, my sister is amazing!
I suppose I don't mind sharing my birthday with my boy. ;)
Happy Birthday Luke!

Blow out the candle!

Who wants cake? "I do!!""Hmmm...what do I do with this?""Stuffing my face with my hands is okay, but there's got to be a better way to get this cake in my mouth!"
"Aha! Much better!"

"I can't believe I ate the whole thing."

So handsome in his birthday outfit from Auntie Em. We had quite the party...I thought this was a funny picture of everyone's shoes.
My old college roommate, Erin, came with her husband and daughter.
We played some ladder ball and corn hole. Jonathan is so ambitious; he built corn hole the night before Luke's party!
Luke with his birthday balloon!
Luke had lots of cousins willing to help him open presents! I think you can barely see his leg in this picture...he is there, I promise! :)

Jonathan's sister brought this scooter over since her kids are done with it now. Luke seems to think he's old enough now to ride it. This was his favorite thing to play with.

Checking out his new see-n-say from Grandma and Grandpa Moore.

Opening some presents the night my family arrived. It was a little less chaotic then. :)

Fun Pictures

Here are just some random pictures from our weekend you may enjoy. :)

I celebrated my 27th birthday last Thursday! (yikes!)

Luke got to ride the penny pony at Meijer for the first time!

This was his reaction when the ride was over and he had to get off.

Grandpa and Peyton had a busy weekend and needed a little cat nap.

Uncle Jacob did Luke's hair for church on Sunday.

Holland State Park

On Friday, we all headed over to Holland State Park to enjoy a day at the beach. It was a little windy, but still beautiful and tons of fun! :)

Luke and Uncle Jacob hanging out on the beach.

Luke and Grandpa had tons of fun!

Jonathan was sad when it was time to leave.

Luke and the Moores

Luke was sad to see my family go. I think he'd gotten used to being waited on hand and foot and played with constantly! ;)

Luke's One Year Pictures!

Luke went to the doctor last week for his 12 month check-up. Here are the stats:
20 lbs. 7.5 oz. (between the 10th and 25th percentile)
29 1/2 inches long (50th percentile)
He had to get three shots :( but is healthy and growing just perfectly! He goes back in three months for his 15 month check-up.

Luke is One Year Old!!!

I cannot believe my little baby is one already! Where has the time gone?? It seems like just yesterday we were welcoming him into our lives. I was not able to get his twelve month pictures done today due to being c-r-a-z-y busy, but I will do my best to get them done tomorrow.

Happy 4th of July!!

We were fortunate enough to take another week long vacation this time up to Indian River where we stayed at my in-laws' cottage. We had tons of fun hanging out with Jonathan's family and enjoying the perfect weather. :)

Once the fireworks started, Luke layed down like this and covered his ears--it was so cute!

About 30 seconds after this picture was taken, Luke was sound asleep!! He slept through the loudest fireworks and didn't move a muscle. At least Jonathan and I enjoyed the show!

Did Luke Have Fun?

I think the answer is YES!!! :)
