Luke is 3!!!!!!!!!!!

Our precious little boy turned three years old on July 9! We cannot believe how fast these years have gone. Luke is such a joy and blessing to our lives. We had a wonderful time celebrating his birthday over the weekend. My family came up for a visit, which is always fun. Luke's birthday was on Friday and his party Saturday so we spread out the presents over the two days so he wasn't completely overwhelmed. This boy made quite the haul! His aunt and uncle (and grandparents!) spoil him soooo bad! :)
Meemaw made him chocolate muffins for his birthday breakfast.

While Papaw and daddy worked on the basement, us girls took the kids and went shopping. First, though, we had to stop at Red Robin for Luke and my birthday lunches! This is what they brought for Luke! And of course they sang Happy Birthday to him, too!

Addie really enjoyed the ice cream, too!

Meemaw has the touch! She walked around the mall pushing the kids and they were out in no time! :)

I'd tell you what the theme of Luke's birthday was this year, but I think you'll figure it out over the next few pictures. haha

My sister, the amazing cake master, was at it again and created this awesome cake that Luke absolutely loved! Great job Emily!!!!

"Happy Birthday, Luke!!"

Luke had some friends from church and the neighbor girl over for his party. It was so cute seeing him interacting with them. He loved having his friends over!

Trying out his new soccer goal from Uncle Jacob.

Testing out his new Thomas blanket from friends at church.

Putting his new truck to good use. Thanks McKenna!

Enjoying his new camping chair we got him.

At three years old, Luke amazes us. His vocabulary is out of this world and he says things that just crack us up! He picks up so much; he's like a sponge! He loves Addison and can by far make her laugh the hardest! He loves to get dirty in his sandbox and loves playing golf, baseball, basketball, hockey, and now soccer. He is very precise and likes things a certain way. He often will line up his cars or trains in order and he seems to be mechanical (which comes from Grandpa Athearn!). He still loves building train tracks, playing with cars, trucks, and he loves his Little People sets too. Candy Land and Chutes and Ladders are played almost every day and he is getting pretty good at Memory too! He is (for the most part) potty trained. He wears underwear except when we go out or at rest time when he wears a pull-up. He has only been dry once through the night but he's getting better. He has a very tender heart and makes us laugh every day! We love you so much Luke David! Happy Birthday!!!!

4th of July

Jonathan was able to take off work and we headed up to northern Michigan for the 4th. It was a great time and we had gorgeous weather the whole week! Just one day that was overcast, which we all kind of needed to rest up. Those Athearns do not like to stop playing! They are go, go, go. No resting on vacations! :) Here are some pictures of our week.

Someone always falls asleep on Grandpa's boat!

Luke was trying to wash his "mower" but Bullet kept sneaking in for a drink!

We had an early birthday party for Luke with all his cousins.

Aunt Michelle decorated his cake with candy she found in the kitchen. It turned out really cute!

Almost three years old!

Grandma and Grandpa got him a $2 Hot Wheels to open for now. Needless to say, Luke was in heaven! He even brought it to bed with him!

Enjoying some quality reading time with Uncle Mike.

We did some biking while we were there.

Luke took up fishing. He really liked it!

Relaxing on the boat enjoying some fruit snacks.

"AAAAhhhhh, this is the life!"

Love her sweet smile!

The kids loved the hot tub!!

It was a great vacation!!!!! Happy belated 4th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Addie's 11 Month Pics

Addison is almost one year old!!! She is on the move and pulling herself up onto everything. She loves to point and gives lots of sloppy kisses. But for everything she is doing, she's still not feeding herself. What a stinker! We love you Addison Marie! :)

Trip to Indiana

The kids and I took an extended trip to Indiana the end of June to visit my family and to give Jonathan a chance to work on the basement. We had such a great time and it was very busy but also very fun. Our five days there flew by! Here are some highlights of what we did:
The kids helped Uncle Jacob open his birthday present.

Addie had a very relaxing time!

Luke enjoyed our traditional breakfast at the coffee shop in downtown Farmland.

Luke enjoyed some good reading.

It was a very tiring time for these kids!

Thomas the Train!

Watching Thomas pull into the station.

Addie enjoying the beautiful day!

This was heaven to him! Except when he had to share with other kids...

Addie and Papaw

He was a little excited. Can you tell?? :)

Getting ready to ride Thomas with Auntie Em.

He didn't have time for all these pictures...he was ready to roll!

Exploring a double decker bus with Emmy and Papaw.

We did all of this on Jacob's 26th birthday. What a lucky guy to get to see Thomas on his birthday!!

There was a petting zoo too with the softest and cutest baby llamas I've ever seen!

Luke enjoyed feeding the goats.

Meeting Sir Tophamm Hat.

He had such a great time!

Thanks Meemaw and Papaw for the awesome early birthday present!!!!!
